Millie Monday

It was a busy weekend for Mom. She taught a class at QT on Saturday, then came home and chillaxed on the couch. Naturally I was right there next to her to help her relax.

The snow is all gone. Meowmans, Madi & Mom and Laila, you have "won" the consolation prize of the When When Contest.  The last bit of it was against this side of the house, and it's not there now.  All you win is bragging rights, but hey, that's better than Mom! She guessed April 15 and she was wrong.

A plant guy was here yesterday. Mom wants to plant a shade garden against this side of the house, but the dirt needs "enhancing," (or something like that) and she can't do it by herself.  She and the Plant Man walked around outside and he gave her suggestions of things to do. Because this kind of landscaping project could cost lots of green papers, Mom will only tackle one small project at a time.
This year it's the shade garden, and this is her plan.

and these are the plants.

This is the plan she has for under the kitchen window.

and of course, there are more plants.

Mom ASSURES me there will be 'Nip, but it will have to grow on our screened in porch so it won't be assaulted by any rude neighborhood kitties.

Have a good Monday.

Oooh - you didn't tell us that you had neighbourhood kitties. Have you seen them yet? Introduced yourself? Meowed at them through the window?

Is it the case that if your mom plants those plants around the side of your house that they'll all die once the snow returns later in the year? That is, does she only get to have a garden for 6 months each year and then have to start all over again the following spring? Has she considered moving to Sydney?!! If you stayed at our place, you'd have a whole bunch of new channels on your TV screen. We've got bush turkey channel, possum channel, lots and lots of different birdie channels, including kookaburras, who will teach you how to laugh really loudly, bandicoot channel, and, our speciality - wallaby channel. Come on down, Millie and mom. You can weed our gardens for us - all year round.

Your nip will grow nice & leafy in pots on the porch Millie. We grow ours on a covered deck every spring & as long as it gets good drainage & some bright light it should grow into nice little bushes of nip by late spring. Mixing some perlite in with the soil helps nip get good drainage. Our mom lets us chomp on one pot at a time & then rotates them as we eat all the tasty leaves. You can have great nip all year long if your mom dehydrates some the leaves for you or by bringing your pot o'nip indoors when the 1st frost arrives.

Your mom's shade garden look like a wonderful layout with lots of cool shades of greens & pops of color. Once it grows & spreads it will be gorgeous. There are so many new varieties of hostas & beautiful shade tolerant plants to choose from today. Your mom selected a wonderful variety with lots of texture. It will be a fun project to watch grow into a lovely garden on that side of the house.

Your Mom certainly is going to be busy.

Megan mentions some "helpers" around her home - I could add water dragons...you would just love looking at them, I am sure!
