Funny Fishy Friday

Mom's happy today is Friday. Me too.  Not much going on in the snow melting department. It looks outside today pretty much like it looked yesterday.  Most of the snow is gone from our roof and the carport. We no longer have a car tunnel.

Mom ordered a bunch of plants for the side of the house, and she's looking into getting a bat house.

Yes, you heard that right, a bat house. She says they eat mosquitoes and that's good because mosquitoes like to bite Mom, and she says if the bats eat the mosquitoes then there won't be as many to bite her. This sounds like a fishy story to me, but hey, what do I know?  I'm just a cat.

Thank goodness.

I think the label you've used for this post - 'Mom is weird' - is spot on Millie. Bats make noises at night and they poop everywhere and they smell. Seems to me that the cure might be worse than the initial problem! However, they could be interesting for you to watch during the night when all the birds are asleep and out of sight.

A friend of ours put up a Purple Martin house - the birds eat the mosquitos and makes it possible for him to use his swimming pool. DH helped his Webelos den kids build bat houses . . . so the story about the mosquitos can be corroborated.

Bats are awesome critters! My human used to subscribe to a magazine put out by a Bat Conservation organization. She'd love to have a bat house too.

Holy Bat Houses Millie! The skeeters love to bite our mom too, so she is all for doing anything to lessen their numbers. Lucky for mom we live across the street from a bird sanctuary & every night they swoop through the air at twilight snacking on mosquitoes. Will the bat house be big enough to house a whole colony of bats or just a few? Did you know baby bats are called "pups" Millie? No, not the woofie kind of pup, but a baby batty kind of pup.

We imagine the Mad Hatter would have this to say on the subject -

"Twinkle, twinkle little bat.
How I wonder where your at.
Up above the world so high.
Like a tea tray in the sky.
Twinkle, twinkle little bat.
How I wonder were your at!"

P.S. - We were just admiring today's photo of your sweet face. You are such a beautiful girl-cat with those cute white bubble cheeks, sweet pink nose & mesmerizing green eyes. Just wanted you to know. Enjoy your weekend watching the snow melt.

That would be interesting. Just keep the bats OUTSIDE!

Please keep the bats over at your place.............we are trying to lessen their numbers in Sydney.

Loved to-day's photo.........hard to put a title on it - just Darling Millie would do, I guess.
